Badsey Nursery School

The first Nursery School was opened by Mrs Pat Goldstraw (née Barnard) in 1965 in the grounds of her home at Chalcroft, Old Post Office Lane. When Pat retired in 1987, Mrs Fiona Laidlaw and Mrs Heather Gibbons agreed to take on the nursery but an alternative site was required. Trevor Clark, the Head Teacher of Badsey First School, offered part of the school field for the unit. A mobile classroom was installed and the nursery opened for business in September 1987. On Mrs Laidlaw’s departure from the village, Mrs Gibbons took sole charge. Mrs Gibbons retired at the end of the summer term 2011 and the nursery is now run by Mrs Lucy Clarke.
